Oborevwori swears in key officials, warns against laxity in public service

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday, inaugurated key officials into various boards and commissions, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to accountability and warning that public officials found derelict in their duties would face strict sanctions.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony in Asaba, the governor emphasized that the appointments align with his MORE agenda aimed at advancing the state. He urged the appointees to embrace servant-leadership and uphold transparency, integrity, and dedication in their roles.

“The men and women sworn in today are individuals with proven track records who bring valuable expertise and wisdom to the government. Servant-leadership entails prioritizing the needs of others, protecting their rights, and setting a positive example,” Oborevwori said. “This administration will not hesitate to sanction any official whose actions contradict our vision and mandate.”

The newly sworn-in officials include Rt. Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor as Chairman of the Delta State Tourism Board, with Chief Mrs. Esther Okotie Eboh, Chief Shedrack Imonioro, and Dr. Genevieve Uzoma M. Mordi as members.

Others include Joshua Onoriode Oborevwori as Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, supported by Mr. Okeremute Samuel Sodje, Henrietta Iheakonyen, and Oghale Ofremu as members. For the Delta State Public Procurement Commission, AIG David Igbodo (rtd) will serve as Chairman, with Mr. Edwin Eruno Abraka as Director-General, and Comrade Venture Daniels and Fyncountry Goodluck Tamaraebi as members.

The Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission is now headed by Mr. Sunday Ohwo Ebireri as Chairman, with Chief Moses Chukwudi Onowu as a member. Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu was also sworn in as Executive Director (Projects) of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

Other appointees include:

Delta State Waste Management Board: Mr. Matthew Mofe Edema as Chairman and Ethe Enifome Juliet as member.

Delta State Urban Water Board: Chief Joe Arausi as Chairman.

Delta State Traffic Management Authority: Chief Peter Idion as Chairman, Hon. Okiemute Essien Benjamin as Director-General, and Ogagaoghene Otikpo, George Okafor, and Charles George as members.

Traditional Medicine Board: Chief Dr. Ogbogodorm Ogumu as Chairman, alongside Dr. Faith Odis, Dr. Ezekiel Alihomuwe, Dr. Nwaka Godwin, Dr. Iwale Christopher, Dr. Mrs. Akpogene Eiwebunakiti, and Dr. Nelson Idiakpona as members.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Rt. Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor expressed gratitude to the governor, pledging their collective commitment to servant-leadership and the advancement of Delta State under Oborevwori’s vision.
