The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday urged Nigerians to embrace prayer, unity, and a shared sense of responsibility as essential foundations for national stability and lasting development. He noted that leadership performs at its best when it is backed by the prayers and goodwill of the people.
The Governor made this appeal while receiving the Founder of Manner Prayer Mountain Ministry Worldwide and author of Our Daily Manner, Chris Kwakpovwe, during a courtesy visit. He described leadership as a divine calling and encouraged citizens to consistently pray for those in authority, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, effective governance depends not only on human effort but also on divine direction. He added that when leaders succeed in their responsibilities, the benefits ultimately extend to the people they serve.
Governor Oborevwori stressed that unity is vital for meaningful progress, cautioning that development cannot thrive in a divided environment. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to people-focused governance, promising ongoing engagement with communities, careful evaluation of their needs, and the implementation of policies that bring real and measurable growth across Delta State.
“Our priority as a government is dedicated service and tangible development,” he said, emphasizing that continued prayer and cooperation would help keep both Delta State and the nation moving forward.
Earlier, Dr. Kwakpovwe, accompanied by his wife and members of his ministry, said he sees it as a sacred obligation to pray for leaders, referencing biblical teachings that encourage believers to uphold those in authority with prayers for wisdom, strength, and discernment.
Reflecting on the 26-year journey of Our Daily Manner, he described the devotional as a divine mission that started modestly and expanded over time through consistency, sacrifice, and grace. He recalled witnessing its early editions and observing its steady growth into a widely embraced spiritual resource for families and believers around the world.
Dr. Kwakpovwe also commended Governor Oborevwori for his impactful and people-oriented leadership, describing him as an outstanding leader and pledging his continued prayers and support.
