Ex-Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, along with Delta State Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, and former member of the House of Representatives.
Mr. Ndudi Elumelu, among other prominent figures, were not present at the meeting of All Progressives Congress leaders and stakeholders held at the residence of Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, on Saturday.
This gathering, hosted by Nwoko at his country home in Idumuje Ugboko, located in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, decided to strive for greater unity within the party in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders, which included prominent APC members, leaders, elders, youth, and supporters of the party from the senatorial district, reiterated their dedication to achieving the establishment of Anioma State from the current Delta State.
In his address, Nwoko announced that a technical committee would be set up in Asaba to assist him in working towards the formation of Anioma State.
He stated, “We are making progress. The technical committee will be launched in Asaba to support me in realizing the creation of Anioma State.
“If you attended the APC stakeholders gathering in Agbor, you would have heard the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Umar Ganduje, declare that the creation of Anioma State is assured.
“We have completed all requisite steps in the Senate. To date, 75 senators are in favor of Anioma State. We have progressed from the committee stage to a public hearing scheduled in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Following that, we will return to the Senate for the third reading of the bill for creating Anioma State.

“Next month, I will begin a tour of all nine local government areas in Delta North to highlight my developmental accomplishments over the past two years, particularly concerning road construction within the senatorial district, and several motions and bills in the Red Chamber.
“My main focus continues to be the completion of the Ogwashi-Ukwu multi-purpose dam and the national grid step down at Okpai for electricity. I believe that when we have electricity and water, everyone will be pleased.”
It is worth noting that several weeks prior, the scheduled meeting had faced some contention, as Deputy Governor Onyeme, who asserts his leadership of the APC in Delta North senatorial district according to party rules, had questioned the decision to host the APC meeting at Nwoko’s residence.
There have been ongoing leadership conflicts involving Ifeanyi Okowa, Monday Onyeme, and Senator Ned Nwoko, spanning from the PDP to the APC.
In his comments, the Chairman of APC Delta North Senatorial District, Chief Eluaka Adizue, encouraged those who have recently joined the party to register at their respective wards alongside the ongoing online membership registration.
Additionally, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, emphasized the importance of reconciling dissatisfied members of the party to foster greater unity in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
“We are not forming a party to create division. We are here to unify and bring everyone together. It is crucial that we strengthen our party, especially in Delta North,” Ochei remarked.
