Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Non-indigene Traders (Delta Central and South Senatorial districts), Hon. Sunny Chuka Okeke has in his usual compassion for people, made a donation of a public address system and cash gifts to the members of the Agbarho chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo Traders and Independent Workers Association (ONTIWA).
The presentation took place on Wednesday April 2nd at the regular monthly meeting of ONTIWA in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Hon. Okeke and his entourage was well received and welcomed by the leadership of ONTIWA Agbarho chapter with a standing ovation.
In his address, Hon. Okeke thanked the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and appreciated the opportunity to represent the non indigene traders of the state as Special Assistant. He also mentioned the enormous responsibities on him doubling also as Chairman PDP Uvwie Ward 5. He went further to sensitize the people on the M.O.R.E agenda of the Governor, Meaningful Development, Opportunities for all, Realistic Reforms, Enhanced Peace and Security.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for carrying everybody along in his unprecedented delivery of the MORE Agenda, adding that his administration is moving the state forward in all sectors to the pride of the entire people of Delta State.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the public address system to the leadership of ONTIWA and the distribution of the N10,000 cash gift to 10 most vulnerable women.
Hon. Okeke said the gesture was part of his contribution of giving back 50% of his salary as SA to the Governor to women.
He admonished ONTIWA members to appreciate his boss, the Governor for paying him salary which he has subsequently extended to supporting the most vulnerable in society.
The beneficiaries were filled with excitement and commended Governor Oborevwori for his love for non indigenes, appreciating the dividends of democracy they have received and the appointment of one of their own to the position of SA on non indigenes trader, Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts.
In a chat with YourCitiNews after the event, Hon. Okeke said, “I promised to give them a public address system which has come to fulfilment today. As SA to the Governor, we receive salary, I pledged that 50% will be going to the most vulnerable women to empower them.
“I came here today and gifted 10 women the sum of N10,000 each, that’s N100,000. Subsequently we’ll be doing this monthly. As the salary comes, 50% will go off. Even what we did here today is more than 50% of my salary; public address system and N100,000.
“It is all about the MORE Agenda, what the Governor is doing in Delta State.
In attendance was the current Chairman, ONTIWA, Mr. Uchenna Onyelagu, the former Chairman Comrade Peter Chibuzor and members of ONTIWA, Agbarho chapter.
