This Isn’t the 2Baba We Know — Nasboi

A deeply emotional open letter written by comedian and singer Nasboi to music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has sparked widespread conversation across Nigerian social media.

Shared on his Instagram page and amplified after Pulse Nigeria reposted it earlier today, the letter quickly went viral, drawing strong reactions from fans who said Nasboi voiced exactly what many have been feeling.

In the letter, Nasboi said he was “genuinely heartbroken” by the recent online controversies and circulating videos that paint 2Baba in a manner fans find troubling and out of character. He recounted how he began admiring the iconic singer at the age of 16, praising 2Baba’s humility, calm spirit, and the dignified way he handled both applause and criticism throughout his long career. According to him, the 2Baba he looked up to never engaged in public arguments, online confrontations, or unnecessary drama.

Nasboi noted that while every family experiences conflict, one of 2Baba’s most admired qualities has always been how discreetly he managed his personal life. Even during difficult times, he said, the artist consistently avoided turning private issues into public spectacle. What is now playing out online, he added, feels “painful to watch” and unlike the version of 2Baba millions grew up respecting.

He appealed to the music star to take back control of the narrative, reminding him that fans still believe in him and want to see him rise above the noise. Nasboi emphasized that many younger entertainers—himself included—studied 2Baba’s poise, emotional maturity, and composure, and he urged the veteran musician not to allow temporary turmoil to overshadow the legacy he has built.
