Delta Govt Tightens Security Ahead of Yuletide, All Entry Points Covered — Tonwe

The Director General on Security Matters and Coordinator of Operation Delta Sweep, Hon. David Tonwe, says all entry points into Delta State have been fully secured as part of measures to guarantee peace before, during, and after the Yuletide season.

Tonwe made this known on Monday while addressing journalists at Government House, Asaba, where he reiterated the state government’s commitment to sustaining peace and stability across all local government areas.

According to him, security operatives have been strategically deployed to cover every part of the state, assuring residents and visitors of a hitch-free festive period. He warned individuals aiding or abetting crime to steer clear of the state, insisting that the long arm of security agencies would soon catch up with them.

“No one will be allowed to sabotage the peace efforts of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” he stated firmly.

Operatives on Red Alert Across the State

Tonwe revealed that operatives under Operation Delta Sweep have undergone intensive training to professionally handle any security threat. While assuring of sustained vigilance, he encouraged the public to report any officer who exhibits unprofessional conduct.

He emphasized that his office would not tolerate misconduct, especially extortion, and urged Deltans to take note of identifying numbers on patrol vehicles and use the phone lines displayed on them to lodge complaints for immediate action.

“Security men have been placed on red alert throughout the state. Mischief-makers are advised to relocate or be ready to face the full weight of the law,” he warned.

Residents Urged to Cooperate with Security Personnel

Hon. Tonwe appealed to residents to treat security personnel with respect and comply with lawful directives, particularly during stop-and-search operations. He noted that cooperation from the public remains crucial in the fight against criminality.

He commended all security agencies in the state for their synergy in tackling crime and praised residents for their peaceful disposition since the administration came into office.

“With unity and sustained peace, all-round development will take centre stage in Delta State,” Tonwe concluded.
