Political leaders and stakeholders from the Delta North Senatorial District have thrown their support in favour of former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, urging him to contest the Delta North Senate seat in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came after an extensive consultative meeting held at the official residence of the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, in Asaba on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu raised a motion calling on Senator Okowa to vie for the seat, and the motion was seconded by Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, who represents the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
The high-powered gathering brought together key stakeholders and political heavyweights from the nine local government areas that make up the Delta North Senatorial District.
In a unanimous resolution, the leaders cited Okowa’s vast political experience, wide network, and impressive record of performance as governor as compelling reasons for their decision.

In his response, Senator Okowa thanked the leaders for the overwhelming show of confidence and formally accepted their endorsement to contest the 2027 senatorial election.
He assured the delegation of his unwavering commitment to quality representation, stressing that his years of public service have further deepened his dedication to responsible and people-oriented leadership.
Senator Okowa also pledged to remain accountable to the people of Delta North, adding that the endorsement would constantly remind him of the huge responsibility placed on his shoulders.
