Over 2 Million Candidates Set for JAMB’s 2026 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it is fully prepared to conduct the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for more than 2.2 million candidates across Nigeria, with the exercise scheduled to hold from April 16 to 22 in 966 accredited Computer Based Test centres nationwide.

According to a statement released on the Nigerian Television Authority’s official X account, JAMB confirmed that 23 centres were recently delisted following poor performance during the Mock‑UTME.

The move, the board explained, was part of efforts to ensure credibility and efficiency in the conduct of the national examination.

Candidates who have not yet printed their examination slips were advised to visit the JAMB website without delay. The slips contain essential details including the date, time, and venue of each candidate’s test.

JAMB also announced special arrangements for candidates living with disabilities through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group.

This initiative, officials said, reflects the board’s commitment to inclusivity and equal access to tertiary education opportunities.

The board further warned that strict penalties will be enforced against examination malpractice and the possession of prohibited items during the exercise.

Officials emphasized that integrity remains central to the UTME process, describing the examination as the gateway to higher education for millions of young Nigerians.

With over two million candidates expected, the 2026 UTME underscores the scale of Nigeria’s demand for tertiary education and the importance of credible assessment systems.

JAMB’s preparations highlight wider government efforts to strengthen access to education and uphold fairness in admissions.
