The Immediate Past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has expressed deep condolences to the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, over the passing of Chief Nwanze Oduah, the Odogwu Ahaba.
Elumelu in a statement, Elumelu extended heartfelt sympathies to the family of the late Chief Oduah, describing him as a distinguished high chief known for his unwavering loyalty to the Asagba Palace.
He praised Chief Oduah’s profound knowledge of Asaba’s cultural heritage and traditions, as well as his contributions to the community’s growth, noting that his death is a significant loss to the entire kingdom. Chief Oduah reportedly passed away after collapsing during the Asagba of Asaba’s 70th birthday celebration.
To honour his memory, the Asagba declared a week-long mourning period, during which all markets in Asaba were closed on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
Elumelu described Chief Oduah’s demise as a monumental loss and prayed for God’s comfort upon the Asagba, the Oduah family, and the entire Asaba community, urging them to take solace in God. The former lawmaker, who recently returned to the country from a business trip abroad, also prayed for the repose of Chief Oduah’s soul and for the souls of all the faithful departed to rest in eternal peace.
