Oborevwori Set to Attend Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ Cup

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is expected to attend the final of the Zenith Bank/Delta State Principal’s Cup scheduled for November 6.

The competition organizers have announced that the third-place and final matches will now take place on November 6 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

The original date of October 16 was postponed following a protest against one of the finalists, Otokutu Grammar School, Ughelli South, over claims that they fielded an ineligible player during their semi-final win against Urhobo College, Uvwie.

After an investigation, Otokutu was sanctioned and will now compete in the third-place match against Justice Peace & Success Academy, Aniocha South. The final will be contested between Ogbe-ijoh Grammar School, Warri South West, and Urhobo College, Uvwie.

The organisers confirmed that Governor Oborevwori, along with several members of his cabinet, will be attending the final in person.

The tournament’s sponsor, Zenith Bank PLC, thanked the organisers for upholding the competition’s integrity and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Nigerian youth, particularly through sports.

The decision to reschedule the final came after a proper review process, following complaints about the eligibility of a player who appeared for Otokutu Grammar School during the semi-final.

Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School secured their spot in the final with a win in the semi-finals, while Urhobo College, Uvwie, was reinstated to the final after Otokutu Grammar School was disqualified.

The tournament has offered a valuable opportunity for young footballers across Delta State to display their skills and has played a key role in spotting talented players for more advanced competitions.

Both the third-place match and the final will take place on the same day at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, with many football fans across the state expected to come out in strong support of their schools.
