President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named former Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, as the new South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), marking a strategic move to strengthen the administration’s development agenda in the region.
With this appointment, Okowa is expected to steer the rollout of key RHI programmes across the South-South, ensuring better alignment of federal social investment efforts with the needs of communities in the zone.
His mandate includes supervising ongoing empowerment schemes, expanding skill-development programmes, and enhancing support for small and medium-scale enterprises.
The RHI, a central pillar of the Tinubu administration, has already introduced several interventions targeting job creation, economic expansion, and community development.
Thousands of Nigerians have reportedly benefited from training programmes and financial support initiatives under its early phases.
Reacting to the appointment, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, praised President Tinubu’s choice, describing Okowa as a “tested leader” whose administrative experience and strong grassroots connection would add value to the initiative.

As the Renewed Hope Initiative continues to take shape nationwide, Okowa’s performance in the coming months is expected to play a defining role in how effectively the programme delivers on its promise of inclusive growth and improved living standards for citizens across the region.
