The Ethiope East Local Government headquarters in Isiokolo was buzzing with activity on Tuesday, as the Bureau of Local Government Pensions carried on with its statewide campaign to educate retired and retiring local government workers.
Leading the team was Mr. Benjamin Igo, Chairman of the Bureau, alongside Secretary Mr. Frank Atube, Director of the Contributory Pension Scheme Mr. Peter Abor, and other senior Bureau officials. Representatives from the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs), and other institutional managers of the Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme were also in attendance.
The event attracted a strong turnout, including contributory pension retirees, local government council staff, primary school teachers, and officers from the Local Government Education Authority. Attendees were given detailed presentations covering pension enrollment, management, and the advantages of the Contributory Pension Scheme.
One of the key highlights was the explanation of how contributors can access housing mortgage loans through their Retirement Savings Accounts (RSA). Facilitators noted that to be eligible for this mortgage facility, a subscriber’s RSA must have been active for at least 60 months and kept fully funded and current.
Now in its second week, the sensitization tour will proceed to Orerokpe, the headquarters of Okpe Local Government Area, on Wednesday, October 15, before moving on to Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, on Thursday, October 16.
