Delta Police Smash Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Cult Gangs in Coordinated Operations

The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its war against violent crime, neutralising armed robbery, kidnapping and cult syndicates across the state in a series of daring operations between 18 and 24 November 2025.

In a swift response to a distress call on 23 November along the Asaba-Benin Expressway, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by SP Danyaya Inusa, in collaboration with the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service under DSP Abu Joshua, engaged a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang in a gun duel.

Three suspects – Oghenemaro Martins (25), Tarebi Miracle Ogbada (22) and Okorie James Kalu (19) – were arrested.

Recovered were one English-made Beretta pistol, one locally made pistol, four live 9mm ammunition, assorted electronics, jewellery and a PS5 console linked to multiple robberies along the Okpanam-Asaba axis.

Barely 24 hours later, the CP Special Assignment Team (CP SAT), commanded by ASP Julius Robinson, dismantled a violent cult group in Sapele and Oghara, arresting three confessed members of the Aye Confraternity: Miracle Umukoro (52), Mudiaga Ukavwe (31) and Solomon Oghoro alias Spartan (30).

Items recovered included a pump-action rifle, six live cartridges, a cutlass and a Toyota Sienna vehicle used for criminal operations.

In Ughelli and Agbarho, coordinated raids neutralised a deadly syndicate notorious for armed robbery, murder and rape.

Four suspects were killed in a shootout on 19 November at Panama Layout, Ughelli, while Victor Peculiar was arrested the previous day in Agbarho with a locally made double-barrelled gun.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the operatives’ gallantry and assured residents of sustained onslaught against crime.

He urged the public to report suspicious activities through the command’s control room: 08036684974.
