The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Capital Territory Development has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the ongoing transformation of the state capital through extensive infrastructural investments and strategic urban renewal projects.
The Committee’s Chairman, Hon. Benson Obire, gave the commendation when he led members of the committee on an oversight visit to inspect key projects being executed by the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) in Asaba.
Hon. Obire, who represents Warri South II Constituency, said the impressive pace of infrastructural work across the capital territory is a practical reflection of the Governor’s MORE Agenda, describing the achievements as proof of purposeful and visionary leadership.
He also applauded the Director-General of DSCTDA, Mr. Patrick Ukah, and his management team for their effective implementation of the 2025 budget, noting that records show over 80 percent budget performance a sign of prudent resource management and transparency in public service.
“What we have seen today demonstrates Governor Oborevwori’s genuine commitment to building a modern and sustainable capital city. The results speak for themselves,” Hon. Obire said.
During the oversight visit, the committee inspected several major projects including: Chris Abudei Street, Ogbueshi Onochie Street, Asaba International Market being developed by EFAB Properties, Okwe Market/Umuapa Quarters Road, St. Theresa Catholic Church Road, Old Oko Road, Okwe, Ongoing flood control works at Ogbe-Ilo and Ugbomanta Street, Drainage channel linking Ogbe-Ogonogo Market to Otu-Ogwu Bay, Ogbeogonigo Modern Market.
Hon. Obire urged residents to support the government’s urban renewal efforts by protecting public infrastructure and refraining from dumping refuse into drainage channels, warning that such actions could undermine flood control measures and damage newly completed facilities.

He noted that the agency’s accomplishments were made possible through the Governor’s visionary leadership and pledged the agency’s continued commitment to delivering a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful Asaba.
“The oversight exercise strengthens transparency and deepens collaboration between the Executive and Legislature. Together, we can sustain the pace of urban renewal across the capital territory,” Ukah added.
Also speaking, Mr. Nyekesi, a representative of EFAB Properties, disclosed that the new Asaba International Market, designed to accommodate over 600 shops, will be completed as scheduled.
