The dispute over who should serve as President General of the Orogun Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area has finally been resolved.
The Delta State Government officially confirmed Olorogun (Dr.) Bennis Eseoghene Agbonifo as the community’s President General on Thursday.
She received her certificate of confirmation from the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Pat Ajudua, during a presentation held in Asaba on the same day.
Agbonifo, a member of the prominent Urhobo socio-political group, Urhobo Peoples Integrity Organization (UPIO), expressed her joy after the UPIO’s monthly general meeting, Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area, at the home of its National President, Dr. (Olorogun) Ebenezer Okorodudu.
Agbonifo who holds the prestigious title of ‘Ejanakpo’ (Lioness) of Orogun Kingdom said she was deeply honored by the confirmation. She also commended the Delta State Government for its commitment to peace and its genuine concern for the well-being of the Orogun Kingdom.
Dr. Agbonifo also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the people of Orogun Kingdom for their unwavering support, pledging to lead the community to greater heights.
As the newly confirmed President General, she assured that her leadership would be inclusive, with a commitment to involving every indigene in the development of the kingdom.
She also appealed for the continued support and prayers of the people, emphasizing that their cooperation is key to achieving the positive plans she has for the community.
Joining her in the leadership team are Chief Augustine Emeofe (Vice President), Mr. Jolly Itodo (Secretary), Comrade Gabriel Akpude (Treasurer), Chief Agbaifo Moses (Welfare), and Chief Celestine Ejechi (Publicity Secretary).
