Following the renewed crisis between the Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic nationalities in Warri, former Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, has appealed for calm and restraint.
In a statement issued by the former SSG, He urged all ethnic groups involved to sheathe their swords and avoid actions capable of inflaming tensions.
While recalling the harrowing memories of the past Warri crisis, which not only devastated the oil-rich city but also disrupted oil production and left deep economic scars on the region.

The former SSG passionately appealed to leaders of all ethnic nationalities, as well as non-indigenous communities residing in Warri, to caution their followers against inflammatory remarks or actions that could undermine the fragile peace in the city—especially at a time when industries are returning.
Comrade Macaulay also called on the government to sustain its impartial approach in promoting peace and maintaining security across the area, stressing that the communal harmony achieved since the last crisis remains critical to the socio-economic development of Warri and its environs.
