Leaders of Ekpan Community Meet to Chart a New Course

Leaders and indigenes of Udumovwori Quarters in Ekpan Community, Uvwie Local Government Area, have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining peace and driving development within the quarters and the entire Ekpan community.

The resolution was made during a convergence at the Udumovwori Quarters Secretariat, which comes just days after the successful hosting of the community’s festival celebration, a cultural event that holds once every decade.

The leaders, youths and other members of Udumovwori quarters of Ekpan Community gathered to discuss issues that would engender sustainable peace and development in the community.

The Youth President of Ekpan community, Comrade Jeffrey Evwierhurhu commended members of the community for the recent peace and harmony the community has been enjoying.

Comrade Evwierhurhu called on all to embrace love which in turn will yield stability and order in Udumovwori and Ekpan Community at large.

Also speaking, John IBB, while calling on all sons and daughters of Udumovwori quarters to embrace peace, thanked the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Local Government Chairman, Chief Anthony Ofoni and the chairman of Ekpan Community, Comrade Victory Nanakparo, for standing by them at all times.

Treasurer of the Ekpan Development Committee, EDC, Luke Umukoro, further added that all members of the community should forget any past grievances and accept the present administration in love and sincerity.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Security, Wilson Awana, pointed out that the need for security in every community cannot be overemphasised and applauded the coordination and peaceful celebration of the Ekpan Community Festival, devoid of violence and chaos.

The Councillor representing Udumovwori Ekpan Ward 9 in Uvwie Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon Ebi Awana, while suing for peace, noted that the economic drive of the community will thrive more when there is genuine love, unity and respect, free of anger and envy.

Hon Ebi urged other leaders to be role models the younger generation can look up to and emulate.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Comrade Wilson Alisi, also commended Governor Oborewori, on his more Agenda, which has created a platform for enhancing peace and security, the community enjoys today.

Others who spoke including the Women Leader of Udumovwori quarters and Ekpan Community, Mrs Egbubare, Chairman of Udumovwori quarters Mr Ovie Ehe, Comrade Mamoro Osusu and Mrs Helen Iyawotu expressed satisfaction with the present administration in the community which has brought peace that will attract investors and development to the area

A vote of confidence in the Chairman of Ekpan Community, Comrade Victory Nanakparo, was unanimously adopted.
