Newly elected National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) worldwide, Double Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff (PhD), has expressed deep appreciation to stakeholders for the strong support that led to his victory in the April 13, 2026 national elections.
In a statement, Mulade who is also the Ibe-Serimowei of the oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State extended his thanks to the outgoing INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, members of the National Executive Council (NEC), the 2026 National Electoral Commission chaired by His Royal Majesty, Justice F.F. Tabai (Rtd), national delegates, and the entire Ijaw Nation for the trust placed in him.
He described his election as a shared achievement, adding that the confidence shown in him comes with a greater sense of responsibility and commitment to serve. Mulade pledged to work closely with the executive council, led by High Chief Macdonald Igbadiwei Esq, as well as other key stakeholders, to promote transparency, accountability, and sound financial management within the congress.
He also assured that he would give his best to strengthen the INC while promoting unity, progress, and development across the Ijaw Nation. The environmentalist and peace advocate reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that will reposition the congress and boost its role in advancing the socio-cultural and political interests of the Ijaw people.
He further emphasized the need for the INC to evolve beyond a traditional socio-cultural body into a more productive platform, with a focus on creating economic opportunities.
According to him, this would include initiatives such as establishing INC farms, a fishing port, and corporate and administrative job opportunities through constructive engagement with multinational companies operating in Ijawland, all aimed at benefiting both the Ijaw people and the wider Niger Delta region.
