‘I Have Nothing to Prove to Anyone,’ – Ayra Starr

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has declared that she no longer feels the need to prove herself to fans or critics in the music industry.

In a candid interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra in London, the Grammy-nominated singer said she has reached a point in her career where her only focus is personal fulfillment and creative authenticity. “I’m in a very comfortable place where I don’t see the need to prove myself to anybody other than myself,” she said.

Ayra Starr, who rose to fame with hits like Rush and Away, explained that her new mindset is reflected in her latest single, ‘Hot Body’, which she described as a celebration of self-confidence and emotional clarity.

“I released my song ‘Hot Body’ because I feel like this is the right time. I’m in the right headspace. I feel good. Right now, my body is better than I have ever felt,” she added.“I didn’t just release it because it sounds good. Look what the hot body can do, that’s exactly how I feel.”

The Mavin Records star has been enjoying international acclaim, recently joining Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, and continues to cement her place as one of the leading voices in global Afrobeats.

Her comments have sparked admiration from fans, many of whom praised her for embracing self-worth and artistic freedom in an industry often driven by external validation
