Mulade Urges Warri Ethnic Groups to Embrace Lasting Peace

Respected peace and development advocate, Comrade (Dr.) Sheriff Mulade, has once again called for unity and peaceful coexistence among Delta State’s ethnic groups particularly the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo communities within the Warri Federal Constituency.

Speaking in Warri during this year’s International Day of Peace celebration, themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” Dr. Mulade, who holds the traditional title of Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, stressed that peace isn’t just an ideal it’s a critical foundation for building strong, successful communities.

“This is a time for us to reflect on how each of us can contribute to peace, mutual understanding, and cooperation,” he said, urging traditional rulers, community leaders, and young people to resist being used to stir conflict or violence. Instead, he encouraged them to become advocates for dialogue, unity, and progress.

He made a heartfelt appeal to the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo groups to rise above divisive politics and warned against any attempts to sow discord. “There can be no room for conflict beyond 2031 in the Warri Federal Constituency,” he said firmly, stressing that what Warri truly needs is lasting peace not political rivalry. He added that stability in the region would encourage investment, create jobs, and drive development in the resource-rich area.

Dr. Sheriff Mulade, a well-known advocate for human and environmental justice, also called on all ethnic groups in Delta State including the Isoko and Anioma to embrace peace as the key to lasting progress. He emphasized that maintaining peace in Warri and across Delta requires a shared sense of responsibility from everyone.

He also encouraged full support and cooperation with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that a peaceful and stable environment would give the administration the space it needs to deliver real development and the benefits of democracy to the people.

“Together, we have the power to create positive change in Warri and the entire Delta State,” Dr. Mulade said. “Let’s take action now to promote peace, justice, and equality and build a society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.”
