Oborevwori Calls for Peace, Unity Amid Warri Disturbance, Reaffirms He’s Governor of All Deltans

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has appealed for calm and mutual respect following the recent unrest in Warri, sparked by the removal of coronation banners belonging to the Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh.

The Governor addressed the matter publicly for the first time during the funeral service of late Mrs. Grace Agbolayah (née Ogbe), mother of his Special Adviser, Toyin Agbolayah.

He reaffirmed his commitment to being a leader for all Deltans, regardless of ethnic, political, or community affiliations.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that true development can only flourish in an environment of peace and inclusiveness, stressing that division and violence only hinder progress.

“I am governor for all; I do not take sides,” he declared, urging communities in Warri and across Delta to embrace dialogue and harmony.

In a candid remark, Oborevwori noted: “People say I don’t talk. The Itsekiris voted for me, the Ijaws voted for me. They love me. What do you want me to say? We’ve seen crises; I’ve witnessed them. I stay in good terms with everyone. When I don’t speak, people wonder why—I’ve seen it. Do we want war tomorrow? No.

He warned against the misuse of social media, describing it as a platform often exploited to spread misinformation and fuel conflict. “Talk to our children. They lie on it. People use it to cause crises,” he said, while reiterating his vision for a united Warri.

“I want to develop Warri. I don’t want problems. Leaders, elders—this Warri is home for me. I have no other. When contesting, I said I’m a man with street cred and local content. They voted for me. I’m governor for all, not taking sides.

The Governor reminded residents of his campaign promise as a leader with “street credibility and local content,” adding that Warri is home for him and that he remains committed to delivering inclusive governance, respecting traditional rulers, and advancing sustainable growth across Delta State.

He concluded with a heartfelt appeal: “Pray for peace. Warri has shown me love; I will show Deltans love. I will respect leaders, be inclusive, and do more.”
