The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, on Monday, officially inaugurated the newly elected executives of the unified Itsekiri youth body, Ugbajo Itsekiri Youths (UIY), in a landmark ceremony held at his palace in Warri.
The historic event marked the beginning of a new chapter for Itsekiri youths, as the Olu presented the leadership team with a ₦50 million donation to support their activities. He further unveiled the association’s official emblem, symbolizing unity and renewed purpose among the Itsekiri youth community worldwide.
In his remarks, the monarch urged the executives to uphold transparency, integrity, and accountability in their service, stressing that they must represent Itsekiri youths at home and abroad with dignity. “You are not just leaders of today but ambassadors of a proud people. Let your actions reflect the values and heritage of the Itsekiri nation,” the Olu charged.
The Joseph Okotie-led executive council, which emerged from elections conducted on Saturday, August 30, 2025, pledged commitment to the organization’s founding charter. Speaking on behalf of the team, Okotie assured that the funds would be utilized responsibly to promote unity, development, and empowerment among youths across Itsekiri communities.

Traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth stakeholders present at the ceremony hailed the Olu’s gesture, describing it as a bold investment in the future of the Itsekiri nation.
The event closed with prayers and cultural displays, reinforcing the monarch’s call for unity, progress, and global relevance for the Itsekiri people.
